Uber Canada says its Tax Summary is not an official tax document. It includes items such as gross fares, sales tax, Uber fees and mileage, but the safest record-completeness workflow is to compare it with the records you control.
1. Rebuild the expected payout
A difference often points to a missing fee, an adjustment entered with the wrong sign, or a payment assigned to the wrong month.
2. Match the money that reached the bank
Keep the platform statement and bank evidence separately. The goal of reconciliation is to explain the difference, not force the numbers to match.
3. Compare kilometres with your own log
The CRA says the best evidence for business vehicle use is an accurate full-year logbook recording each business trip’s date, destination, purpose and distance, together with total and business kilometres.
Keep the tax question separate
Record completeness and tax treatment are different jobs. CRA guidance says commercial rideshare drivers must register for GST/HST even if they are small suppliers. Use current CRA guidance or a qualified professional for registration, filing and deduction decisions.
